La Région Hauts-de-France is proud to contribute to the great celebration offered each spring by the Queen of the Classics. For these 4th and 121st editions, the measures it is putting in place will be exceptional: a new float in the region’s colours offering local waffles as part of the publicity caravan; institutional stands at the start in Denain, at the team presentation in Compiègne and at the finish at the Roubaix velodrome from Friday to Sunday; events zones and giant screens on Sunday at the Trouée d’Arenberg, Chemin des Ponceaux in Orchies, Carrefour de l’Arbre in Gruson but also, and for the very first time, at the Moulin de Vertain in Templeuve and at Bersée; and finally, a live broadcast from Compiègne, to bring the pre-race action to life, on the Region’s YouTube channel and Facebook page.
With a view to hosting the Grand Départ of the Tour de France in 2025, la Région Hauts-de-France has its finger on the pulse of cycling fans’ fervour. Six million cobbles await the women and men riders on Paris-Roubaix, the same total as the inhabitants of the Hauts-de-France region: quite a symbol!
Le Département du Nord, France’s most populous with 2.6 million inhabitants, is proud of its partnership with Paris-Roubaix. L’Enfer du Nord (the hell of the north), whose name it shares and whose values of courage and friendliness it embodies, is a monument that demonstrates, year after year, the passion of the people of northern France for cycling. This natural partnership is part of this great tradition. For several years, this support has been accompanied by a programme of renovation and maintenance of the department’s cobbled areas, from the Cambrésis region to the outskirts of the conurbation. This year, the Nord department has also contributed to weeding of the legendary Trouée d’Arenberg cobbled section, as part of an ecological and solidarity-based eco-pasturing initiative. As a local authority with almost 1,000 reception centres, le Département du Nord works to promote solidarity between people and a balance between its different territories. Committed to the practice of sport for all, from leisure-based and health-based sports to top-level competition, the Nord department supports all the major events that bring us together and help to raise the profile of the region. This is why it also supports the Paris-Roubaix U23, junior and mountain bike events.
La Métropole Européenne de Lille is proud to welcome the Queen of the Classics again. With the 95 municipalities that compose it, la Métropole Européenne de Lille takes action on a daily basis for its 1.2 million inhabitants, in essential domains such as transport, housing, the economy, household waste and sport. La Métropole Européenne de Lille has been developing an ambitious policy for several years now. It supports sport for all by means of the “support fund” that makes it possible to finance the construction or renovation of sports facilities throughout the urban area, and, thanks especially to the “sponsored matches” scheme, enables its inhabitants to attend the sports matches of its leading clubs. In this way, it encourages top-level sport, particularly for women. It supports 17 sports clubs, including 7 women’s clubs and 4 mixed clubs. It supports young athletes preparing for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. A genuine sporting area, la Métropole Européenne de Lille has made hosting leading international competitions such as the Rugby World Cup and popular major sports events one of its trademarks. It will host the men’s and women’s basketball preliminary rounds and the men’s and women’s handball finals of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. 52 matches are scheduled at the Decathlon Arena - Pierre-Mauroy stadium between 27th July and 11th August. In July 2025, it will host the Grand Départ of the Tour de France.
